Samfya youth denies burglary charge

A 21-YEAR-OLD man in Samfya District has denied breaking into a house and stealing property valued at K17,000.
ZANIS reports that before Magistrate Fabian Likulunga was Danny Musonda of Chilumba village in Chief Kasomabangweulu’s area in Samfya charged with Burglary and Theft contrary to section 301 (a) and 272 chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Facts before the court are that Musonda on 1 February, 2020 in Samfya, whilst acting together with other person’s unknown, did break and entered a dwelling house of Chibale Kalasa with intent to steal.
Musonda did steal 1 Home Theatre, 1 Television Set, 2 double mattresses, assorted clothes, 1 mosquito net, 2 Decoders, 2 bedsheets, and shoes altogether valued at K17, 000 the property of Kalasa.
When the matter came up for plea before Samfya Magistrate Court, Musonda pleaded not guilty of the charge.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Likulunga has since adjourned the matter for commencement of trial.
