Qatar Airways announces Zimbabwe, Zambia flights starting in August
BULAWAYO – Qatar Airways, one of the world’s largest airlines, will fly to Zimbabwe for the first time starting in August. The Doha-headquartered airline says it will fly into Harare via Lusaka, Zambia, three times a week initially, starting on August 6. With a fleet size of 235 aircraft, Qatar Airways is a member of the Oneworld Alliance and will connect Zimbabwe to at least 173 destinations. Qatar Airways Group CEO Al Baker said: “Africa continues to be an area of strong growth for Qatar Airways and launching this service will support the development of the economy and tourism sector in both countries (Zambia and Zimbabwe) “Not only do we continue to rebuild our network after the pandemic, but we are actively expanding it with the addition of these two key destinations. These are the fifth and sixth new destinations in Africa added to our network since the start of the pandemic, taking our total new destinations added across the globe to 10.” The thrice-weekly flights will operate each Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Flight QR1455 – serviced by a Dreamliner 787 – will leave Doha at 2.20AM to land in Lusaka at 8:50AM. The aircraft will depart Lusaka at 10.20AM to arrive in Harare at 11:20AM. QR1456 will depart from Harare at 6:55PM to land in Lusaka at 7.55PM. It will then leave Zambia at 9:25PM to arrive back in Qatar at 5:55AM the next day. All times are local.
