PUPILS SHOULD SPEND THE SCHOOL HOLIDAY RESPONSIBLY
Dear editor, THE government schools closed and the private schools are yet to close. The closure of schools marks the end of the first term. There is excitement among the pupils which comes with the closure of schools. However, closing of schools is one thing and spending the holiday responsibly is another. In view of the aforementioned, I implore the pupils in the examination classes to desist from indulging in vices such as illicit sex, alcohol abuse and drug abuse among others. The pupils in the examination classes should spend the holiday responsibly by studying hard ahead of the Grade Nine examinations and Grade Twelve examinations. This will assist them to catch up with some topics they didn’t understand very well during the course of learning before the first term ended. The pupils in the examination classes can also register with some tuition centres like the Great North Road Academy for instance. Great North Road Academy offers private tuition at a fee during the holidays. These private tuition are offered pupils from Great North Road Academy to pupils from other schools. The tuitions are aimed at preparing the pupils for the examinations and also on the topics that the pupils don’t understand. The advantage of pupils preparing adequately for the final examinations is that it instills confidence in the pupils before writing the examinations.  Ultimately, the pupils in the examination classes will not engage in the examination malpractice commonly known as examination leakage. It has been said that education is the best equaliser. On this score, it is imperative that pupils should use every opportunity at their disposal to realise their dreams by pursuing careers of their own choice. My free and timely advice to the pupils in the examination classes is that they should use the school holiday well by studying hard as they prepare for the forthcoming examinations. These pupils should also work very hard at school during the course of learning.
