‘POLICE MUST SUMMON SENIOR CHIEF MUKUNI OVER HH POISONING CLAIMS’

By OLIVER SAMBOKO POLICE should immediately summon Senior Chief Mukuni of Southern Province to explain his claims that Government is planning to poison UPND president Hakainde Hichilema, ZRP president Wright Musoma has demanded. At the weekend, Senior Chief Mukuni accused Government of carrying out sustained propaganda that Mr Hichilema is unwell meant to prepare people’s minds, claiming the PF was planning to poison him during an arrest. But Mr Musoma said traditional leaders should avoid careless talk which could ignite anarchy especially that the country was heading for general elections. He said police should find out more from Senior Chief Mukuni about his claims. Mr Musoma said it was disturbing that a traditional leader who should be working with the government, was busy accusing the state of planning evil against its citizens. He the claim by the traditional leader should not be taken lightly because it was a grave matter that could lead to violence from Mr Hichilema’s supporters. Mr Musona said he was aware that Mr Hichilema and Senior Chief Mukuni were close business partners, but warned against unwarranted claims meant to mislead Zambians. He said the police should be given space to carry out their duties without being intimidated by anyone regardless of their position in society. Mr Musoma said it is wrong for the traditional leader of Senior Chief Mukuni’s status to continue making false accusations that Government was planning to eliminate Mr Hichilema from the 2021 general elections.
