Plot to arrest me
I am fully aware of the scheme by Police in Ndola to effect an arrest on me this afternoon over some trumped up charges. The arrest is planned to happen at the Ndola High Court where I am attending the petition hearing. The officers have been given specific instructions to effect the arrest in a very dramatic fashion possible with a lot of media presence. The officers have been instructed to detain me in Police custody for as long as it is possible. I do not understand why the Police should ambush me when they can easily summon me to appear for questioning. The Police know my residences in both Lusaka and Ndola and they also know the physical address for my lawyers and they can easily drop a Call Out for me. It is unfortunate that President Hakainde Hichilema can use his office to issue illegal instructions to our men and women in uniform to arrest his perceived political enemies. My message to President Hichilema is that this is too early for you to start misusing your powers. Focus on delivering even one of your promises to the Zambian people. President Hichilema should realise that I held the position of Minister for five years and I have been active in politics for over 25 years and I have maintained close contacts with police officers at all levels in the Zambia Police right up to the High Command. President Hichilema should know that the same officers he is assigning to manufacture cases against me are reporting to me on a daily basis and this makes me aware of the plans to arrest me today. I wish to inform President Hichilema that I am ready for his cheap political antics and remind him that leaders that seek to arrest their opponents through malicious arrests are insecure despots wishing to protect their weak mandates.
