PF CHAMPIONS OF DEMOCRACY, MWILA
BY MULENGA MUSONDASOME civil society organisations do not see it wrong the tendency by certain political parties who have abrogated the constitution by failing to hold intra party elections, the Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila has said.Mr Mwila said the CSOs had never condemned this practice which the constitution was clear that each political party needed to hold party elections.Mr Davies Mwila condemned this preferential treatment which the CSOs had taken. He said this after the PF held intra party elections in Southern Province were Lawrence Evans was re-elected as provincial chairperson.“Our Party has been a democratic party, we have been holding elections, this is the seventh elections and we are remaining with Northern, Luapula and Lusaka. We want to show the world that we are a democratic party.“All NGOs that have been quiet, they have failed to condemn other political parties that have not been holding elections. The UPND, Hakainde Hichilema has been there for more than 20 years, when did they hold a national convention, where are the NGOs? They can’t talk about it, they only want to talk about PF which is more democratic” he said.Mr Mwila who was impressed with the fair and violent free elections, appealed to his party members not to embrace undemocratic politics of violence and tribalism.“If someone wants to be the President of the country, he must be democratic. If you are not democratic when you are in opposition, what more when you are in government? Am happy with the way you elected the people, you didn’t look at someone’s tribe.“Jack Mwiimbu is leader of Government Business, he’s from Southern Province, Chief Whip of the Party Garry Nkombo is from Southern Province, but they have MPs from North Western, Western , what about if you give them power,” he said.
