OFFICER RECALLS FINDING DR TASILA’S BODY
By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSA A Scene of Crime Officer has testified in the Lusaka High Court that Dr Tasila Tembo’s body had a visible open wound on the belly measuring between 20 and 30 centimetres. This is in a matter where former Zambia Army officer, Nigel Mwaba is accused of killing Dr Tasila between October 24 and 26 in Lusaka. Mwaba however pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder. Testifying before Judge Wilfred Muma yesterday, Detective Constable Lukele Sicheleka , a trained SCO stated that on October 27, last year, while on duty at Woodlands Police Station where he was operating from then, he was assigned to attend to a crime scene at Nanking Army Training Centre in Mikango area. In the company of two other officers, Mr Sicheleka said that they were led to the crime scene by two villagers in the bush of Mikango area, which  is a restricted area of the Army. “I discovered the body of a female adult person whose identity at the material time was unknown. The body was dressed in an orange T.Shirt branded ‘Right to care’ and a bluish pair of trousers. The body had a visible open wound on the belly about 20 to 30 centimeters. The body was in a decomposing state and covered under tree branches,” he said. Trial continues today.
