Obrey Chirwa extends stay at Azam FC
AARON MUBANGA writes ZAMBIAN striker Obrey Chirwa has extended his stay at Tanzanian outfit, Azam FC after he penned a one year deal. “I am promising the supporters, although I think I have had a better 2020 outing, I will work even harder to ensure that I am going to achieve even more,” Chirwa told the club’s website after putting pen to paper for the contract extension. The former FC Platinum player had two months left on his current contract and hence the Dar es Salaam based outfit acted swiftly to retain the services of Chirwa. “Obrey Chirwa has added a new one-year contract to remain in the team. The star’s previous contract, which he added in June last year, was coming to an end at the end of the season, so he will stay on until next year,” the club announced. He signed the contract in the presence of the club’s Chief Executive Officer Abdulkarim Amin. The former Zambia U23 national team striker has been in Tanzania since 2016 when he made his US$120 000 worth move from Zimbabwean outfit FC Platinum to Yanga. The 26-year-old then left Yanga to join the Egyptian side Nogoom FC in 2018 but only stayed there for four months before moving back to the Tanzanian Ligi Kuu Bara this time on the books of Azam.- ZAMFOOT.
