No politics in Covid-19 fight – Kalumba
By SILUMESI MALUMONO politicking is needed in the fight against COVID-19 but let’s collectively put our heads together to fight the disease and its devastating impact our economy, veteran politician Katele Kalumba has said.Dr Kalumba who is former Minister of Finance, said the fight against COVID 19 should not be left to Government alone but concerted efforts were required. He said in an interview yesterday, the opposition must also take a leading role in ensuring that the lives of the Zambians were safeguarded.Dr Kalumba, a health specialist, said the outbreak was beyond the Government and that regardless of their political affiliation, people must work with the Government to combat the deadly virus.Dr Kalumba said people should refrain from politicising COVID-19 because it posed a serious danger to many lives. He said it was sad that instead of fighting the deadly disease, people would rather exchange words which did not help to eradicate the pandemic.“We are one and we must survive as one. No politicking needed, just practical actions. As much as we are determined to fight the disease, collectively let us also put our heads together to fight its devastating impact on our economy,” he said.Zambia has not recorded new COVID-19 cases but five people have so far been discharged with one death.
