No one will stop me – Kambwili
By GIDEON NYENDWA NO one will stop me from becoming party president if PF members want me to lead the former ruling party, Chishimba Kambwili has declared. Mr Kambwili, who is former Roan Member of Parliament, said nothing would stop the will of the people if they choose him to lead the party. He said if the members want him to be their leader, then he was more than willing to take up its leadership. “If the people have chosen me, who am I to refuse,” he added Mr Kambwili said Zambians should understand that leadership was about the people and if the people prefer a particular individual, no one was supposed to go against their will. He said what was happening reminded him of what had happened in 2014 when the people decided that they wanted Mr Edgar Lungu as president of the PF. Mr Kambwili said when Mr Lungu was chosen by the people after the death of founder President Michael Sata, he faced all kinds of criticism from interested people. He recalled that at the end of the day, the will of the people prevailed and in 2015 Mr Lungu was elected Republican President. “Leadership comes from the people, so even now if the people want me it shall come to pass,” he said. Mr Kambwili’s comments, come after the growing debate on who should take over the leadership of the PF after Mr Lungu officially steps down.
