‘NO MONEY MISSING’ …Police clarify Faith Musonda’s K65m By KETRA KALUNGA NO money was stolen during an operation at the house of Ms Faith Musonda in New Kasama where about K65, 330, 000 was discovered, says police spokesperson, Esther Katongo. She however said an extra K3, 000 was discovered after the Bank of Zambia which was keeping the seized money recounted the notes, bringing the verified total to K65, 333, 046. Ms Katongo was reacting to insinuations that police officers could not have declared the full amount found in Ms Musonda’s house. She said in an interview that initially, the Bank of Zambia did block counting at the time the money was discovered. “There was an indication by the police deputy commissioner Lusaka that the Bank of Zambia was recounting the money. So after the recounting note by note, there was an extra K3, 000 on top of that money so they were not far from what was recovered by the police,” she said. Ms Katongo was responding to insinuations from the public that the money could have been more than the reported amount. “If people are saying that there was more money, will wait for the owner of the money to say that, not people who don’t know how much was there to start saying there could be more money. “The owner is there, we will hear from the owner if at all she is going to say that the money was more than what was declared,” Ms Katongo said.
