‘Nkwazi not under pressure’
SUN SPORTS writes NKWAZI FC coach Dennis Makinka says the Zambia Police-sponsored FAZ Super Division outfit is not under pressure as it seeks to avoid relegation. In an interview, Makinka, who guided his team to a goalless draw against Zanaco on Sunday said Nkwazi has improved this year compared to the way they performed in the first round of the league which saw them failing to score any goal from the first 12 games. “We didn’t start well if you remember we went about 12 games without getting a goal but in 2020 at least we have only recorded one loss against Green Buffaloes. “We are not under pressure because I think we have picked up and now we are just trying to enjoy the game because you know we have improved so we are not under pressure just taking each game as it comes,” Makinka said. He said Nkwazi will fight to win their remaining games to avoid being relegated from the Super Division. Nkwazi’s next fixture will be against struggling Mufulira Wanderers and Makinka anticipates a tough fixture against Tennant Chembo’s drilled side. “As we go forward the points are very close down the relegation zone so we need to start picking points, we need to pick four or five wins then we will be safe to start preparing for a new season,” he said. “Next game we travel to Mufulira and it will be a tough match because they also believe that they can survive if they win the next 10 games so they will look to get maximum points but we will also prepare because we need the same points,” Makinka said. Meanwhile Makinka said the Covid-19 pandemic has affected his team negatively after some players were removed from camp after they were found to be Covid-19 positive. “It’s really affecting because when you start planning you know who is going to play but then after planning you are told that some players can’t play because of Covid-19 which is really affecting and making the job hard for us,” Makinka said. “It’s always difficulty to play a team which is in relegation zone but I’m sure we will be ready for Mighty.” Following the draw against Zanaco on Sunday Nkwazi are 14th on the 18-team Super Division table with 28-points.
