REPUBLICAN President Edgar Lungu was at the weekend presented with the 2019/20 MTN FAZ Super League trophy by Nkana FC players, technical bench and executive committee members in Ndola as a token of appreciation for his support to the club The Zambian Super League Champions won a prolific 13th title last week and attributed the win to the support of their fans and the timely donation by President Lungu. The President encouraged Nkana to work hard and represent the country well in continental football. Prior to the championship win President Lungu had gifted the Kitwe based club with US$32,000 aimed towards the outstanding debt owed to former player Walter Bwalya and saving them from a possible FIFA ban. Nkana Midlands Bureau patron Chileshe Kandeta, in announcing the gift, said the funds would be used to off-set the entire outstanding dues owed by Nkana Football club to Walter Bwalya and for investment in sustainability programmes. President Lungu advised the sports community to install systems that will guarantee transparent, accountable, and efficient utilisation of resources so that there is sustainability in sports management and development in the country.
