Nkana Fans seek K500,000
MUKWIMA CHILALA writes NKANA football clubs supporters have said that they have embarked on an ambitious venture to raise to raise in excess of K500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Kwacha) in three months. Nkana Football Supporters Club National secretary Godfrey Kapalanaka said the fundraising initiative was meant to raise funds that would go towards settling the US$28,350 that the club owes Stephen Adams so that the FIFA ban can be overturned. And Kapalanaka said that his group have recently had a fruitful meeting with the club sponsors Mopani on the way forward to ending the wrangles surrounding the club. The supporters have maintained that despite meeting the sponsors, their resolve remained the same and that they still pushing the agenda as petitioned by the supporters.  Kapalanaka noted that Mopani were desirous to see a well-run club and had assured of further engagement to resolve certain issues presented to them.  He maintained that his executive cannot be dissolved and that they shall continue representing the supporters who gave them the mandate to do so.  “We would like to inform our supporters that, in the event of changes in the club’s Executive Committee, the current problems the club is facing will still be there and any person that would be tasked to steer the ship, will need to seek out ways of how to propel the club out of its current malaise and ensure that the club restores its glory and effectively deal with the FIFA ban and other issues,” Kapalanaka said. In this vein, in readiness of any changes that may come, we are devising an ambitious fundraising strategy to raise in excess of K500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Kwacha) in three months. The first fundraising initiative is meant to raise funds that will go towards settling the US$28,350 that the club owes Stephen Adams so that the FIFA Ban can be overturned. He said that the fundraising will be done in a very transparent way and will ensure that the money raised was not intended to be superintended on by members of the Nkana Executive Committee, whom the supporters had passed a vote of no confidence in.  Kapalanka noted that the fundraiser was being done in anticipation of the difficult period the club would face. Nkana supporters have over the past few weeks being at loggerheads with the club executive committee which has seen the latter moving to disband its supporter groups. The Sun
