MULENGA MUSONDA writes@SunZambianTHE Choma Magistrates Court has fined the 37-year-old woman who earlier denied to assaulting her neighbour after a quarrel.In this matter Fanny Mvula of Choma’s Zambia Township stood charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to section 248 of Chapter 87 of the Penal Code of the Laws of Zambia.Allegations were that Mvula assaulted Juliet Mundenda thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm, an accusation she earlier denied.The incident is said to have occurred on August 29, 2020 in Choma District of Southern Province.When the matter came up for commencement of trial before Court, no sooner had the State mentioned that they were ready to proceed with three witnesses than the accused person emotionally appealed that she retakes plea.Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa granted her the application and read the charge to her through the Court Interpreter Munika Mwananshiku in Nyanja, the language she appeared to understand better.Mvula admitted the charge and stated that she stoned Mudenda after an altercation at around 21:00hrs .According to the Facts stated by Public Prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa, the victim sustained a deep cut on the back of her head.Despite pleading guilty and vowing never to repeat her actions, Magistrate Munukayumbwa fined her K800, in default to serve 6 months simple imprisonment.
