NAPSA STAKE IN MARCOPOLO TILES CHEER MINISTER
By OLIVER SAMBOKO MARCOPOLO Tile Company is an inspiring and impressive investment that gives hope that Zambia will be on the world map in terms of production and supply of tiles, Labour Minister Brenda Tambatamba has said. She said the Marcopolo investment could be one of the undertakings that can open up a larger value chain that benefits a large number of Zambians, not only those employed by the company but also the suppliers of goods and services. NAPSA has 16.39 percent shareholding in Marcopolo and has so far received K17 million in dividends. Speaking when she toured the Lusaka-based Marcopolo Tile Company yesterday, Ms Tambatamba said President Hakainde Hichilema has mandated her to find out if NAPSA investment in Marcopolo Tiles company is viable aimed at ensuring that the money contributed by members is invested in viable projects that assures better returns. “The President wants to understand and know where the NAPSA funds have been invested, and since we know that some of the money has been invested in Marcopolo Tile Company, I was interested to come and access the viability of the investment,” she said. Ms Tambatamba said the investment has created jobs within the period NAPSA has invested in the company. She said government is interested to see that the money contributed to NAPSA by members is invested in proper ventures that ensure value addition and employment creation.
