Mwami Mission Hospital in Chipata district, Eastern Province is in need of protective clothing for members of staff against COVID-19 pandemic.  Mwami Mission Hospital administrator Peter Tembo says 11 members of staff and 20 students tested positive to COVID-19 pandemic.  Mr Tembo appealed to stakeholder to help the hospital with protective clothing as the health care givers are in the front line to fight COVID-19. Mr Tembo was speaking in an interview after receiving a donation of PPEs from Langeni Member of Parliament Charles Zulu. The health workers were quarantined for 14 days until they recovered. We also had 20 positive cases among students but they were treated and have recovered, he said.  Mr Tembo commended government and the area MP for supporting the health institution in the quest to provide care to the people.  “We do receive a lot of support from the MP Mr Charles Zulu and we do appreciate his support. It is not the first time the area MP has come to donate to the hospital. I would like to implore him to always continue support our hospital,” he said.  Meanwhile, Mr Zulu encopuraged the health staff at the hospital to remain commited to duty and help the country in the fight against COVID-19. He hoped that the donation of protective clothing will reduce the number of transmission from patient to health care provider.  He called on government stock up protective clothing at the mission hospital and save lives.  “COVID-19 is real, this disease has claimed many lives in the world as well as in Zambia. I am here to make a donation to the hospital so that the health workers may be protected as they treat people that are sick,” he said.
