MUSHILI HILLS WATER TANK TO SERVE 100,000
NOEL IYOMBWA writes OVER 100,000 residents will benefit from regular supply of fresh and clean water after the completion of construction of a Water Reservoir Tank on top of Mushili Hills. Once completed the tank will supply fresh clean water to previously unserviced areas in upper Mushili, Jacaranda Villa and Kaloko townships Bwana Mukubwa Member of Parliament Jonas Chanda has said.  The constituency is best described as peri-urban and has seen several developmental milestones achieved through use of Constituency Development Funds as well as successful sponsorship lobbying with corporates by the area Member of Parliament. Dr Chanda said that the Water Reservoir Tank, whose works started in November 2019, had been constructed by China National Complete Engineering (CNCE) as part of the Kafulafuta Water Dam Project. He said that the Reservoir Tank is 19 by 27 Square Metres with a height of 11 metres, with Total Water Storage Capacity of 5,400 cubic Metres. The MP explained that the 70 kilometres of New Water Network Pipes have already been laid in Mushili and Jacaranda Villa.  Adding that the reservoir and water network connection in Mushili is costing government US$3.8 million, while the Water Network Connection in Jacaranda Villa is costing US$2 million, making a total of US$5.8 million for the two townships.  “In addition, a pump house will be constructed  at the foot of Mushili hills (Zeeworld) to pump water from the main Nakaputa Water Line (lower point) “uphill” into the water reservoir tank, which will in turn take water “downhill” with increased pressure (law of gravity) into Mushili, Jacaranda Villa and Kaloko townships. “With the upcoming Water Extension Project by KWSC, we hope to extend new water networks to remaining parts of Mushili, Kaloko, Katondo, Ndeke Overspill and Itawa extension. Also lobbying for a new water network in Ndeke Extension, Kaloko, Katondo/Munkulungwe and Itawa extension,” he said. The first ever Police Station in Bwana Mkubwa Constituency, Ndola, is also under construction.  “This modern police station will have all key Police services and has been made possible using part of the 2018 CDF and corporate support,” he adds.  The area MP has been lobbying for support from companies and business people in Ndola. Ndola Lime, Handymans Lime, Neelkanth Cables, Kaleza Investments, Badwi Transporters, Zimart, and Zambezi Portland are some companies that have come on board. Selected gravel roads in Mushili, Ndeke, Makense and Itawa townships are also being constructed as paved roads under the Pave-Zambia Road Project. This project had stalled from 2017 until now in Mushili while road works in Ndeke have been on-going. The Sun
