MMD/PF EAST ALLIANCE INTACT -MWALE
THE Operation Save MMD says its alliance with the Patriotic Front (PF) in Eastern Province is intact and bearing fruit. In an interview yesterday, acting MMD provincial chairperson Philemon Mwale said the alliance has performed well and that the former ruling party has deployed a considerable number of its members to mobilise support for the PF on a door to door basis in wards. Mr. Mwale said the alliance has managed to reach almost every home in Chipata to campaign for President Edgar Lungu and Chipata Central PF parliamentary candidate Amon Jere.“We are almost everywhere delivering the message of hope, development, and peace from President Edgar Lungu, Amon Jere and the rest. Otherwise we are doing fine, we don’t have challenges but we just have some portions where we need to work extra hard. “Things are moving and we are working well with PF provincial campaign manager Vincent Mwale (former Chipangali MP). Our people in the province are doing well and working together. In short things are in place,” Mr. Mwale said.He said although certain individuals could not accept the MMD/PF alliance majority leaders are together and working in harmony. He said all preferred candidates at all levels have been accepted and that political violence that has characterised some parts of the country has not affected the alliance’s campaign in the province.Mr. Mwale said even when United Party for National Development President Hakainde Hichilema was recently in the province no violence erupted between rival political parties.“We are brothers and sisters and we chat when we meet in the field. We don’t insult one another and at the moment Chipata Central and other parts of the province are peaceful. We don’t encourage violence, I have been on TV and radio stations just to educate our people not to fight. There is no quarrel even among our youths and Eastern Province is home for everyone,” he said.
