Micho re-enforces CHAN squad
AARON MUBANGA writes @SunZambian NATIONAL Team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has re-enforced his squad ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament with Green Eagles shot-stopper Allan Chibwe and Zesco United defender Fackson Kapumbu among the latest call ups to complete his final tournament pieces. More players are expected to join camp in Yaoundé after having featured for their clubs in CAF engagements. Luka Banda (Napsa Stars), Amity Shamende (Green Eagles) and Harrison Chisala (Nkana) will link up with the Chipolopolo in Yaoundé before heading to Limbe where Zambia will be based for the tournament. Other set to join the team in Cameroon Kelvin Kampamba (Zesco) and Pride Mwansa (Nkwazi) who had remained behind to complete pre-tournament formalities. Zambia is in Yaoundé where the team is participating in a pre-CHAN tournament and have so played against Niger and Uganda drawing 3-3 and losing 2-0 respectively. The final group game at the pre-CHAN tournament will be played yesterday against Cameroon. Zambia is in Group D alongside Tanzania, Guinea and Namibia and will be based in Limbe. The Cameroon 2020 CHAN (staged in 2021) will take place from January 16 to February 8. Zambia opens its account on January 19 against Tanzania at the Stade de Limbe/Buea before facing Guinea four days later. The final group match will be on January 27 against Namibia. Sixteen African nations will be in Cameroon for the tournament exclusively held for players playing their trade in domestic leagues on the continent.
