Matches behind closed doors – FAZ
MUKWIMA CHILALA writes The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has re-affirmed its position that the resumption of the Super League and National Division One will be played under closed doors. FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says the football governing body fully understands the desire by fans to watch the matches from the stadia but was obliged to abide by the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Sport. Kashala said that only people that are part of the match day squad, stadium staff, security personnel and media were expected to access the stadium. “We would like to re-emphasise that the league will resume as indicated this weekend behind closed doors. The health situation in the nation, as guided by the authorities still requires that we observe the guidelines provided,” Kashala said. Only people that are part of the match day squad, stadium staff, security personnel and media are expected to be at the stadia. The FAZ General Secretary however said that media personnel will be expected to produce FAZ certified accreditation cards and that they will not be allowed to have any contact with the players. “Our colleagues in the media will be allowed access to stadia subject to observing the guidelines. Media personnel will not be allowed any contact with the players. We will have the broadcast partner SuperSport and also club media officers stepping in to fill the gap.” Kashala further called on all teams involved in the weekend games to follow the provided guidelines and ensure that a good example was set. The FAZ league resumes this weekend with double headers on Saturday and Sunday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. The Sun
