MARCHING ORDERS – MBULAKULIMA TELLS KAMANGA SQUAD TO QUIT AFTER WORLD CUP FAILURE
By MUKWIMA CHILALA FORMER Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) executive committee member Mwansa Mbulakulima has described the continued nosedive and poor performance of the Zambia national soccer team in which it has failed to qualify to both the World and Africa cups as a national embarrassment. And Mbulakulima has challenged FAZ president Andrew Kamanga and his executive to resign for what he has termed as national embarrassment of the national team’s continued poor performance. The Chipolopolo has yet again failed to qualify to a major tournament following their 2-0 loss and later one 1-1 draw in back to back home and away fixtures against Equatorial Guinea played last Thursday and Sunday respectively . But Mbulakulima said the FAZ executive under its president Kamanga must shoulder the blame because Zambian football has reached a tipping point which calls for a change of guard at Football House. He said even at its lowest point, the national soccer team must never become whipping boys to small teams and that now was the time for the football family to make changes. “When the Kamanga executive removed the previous executive, people expected better results, simple.  But where have they left us, qualification to the AfCON was a routine thing for Zambia and it was something we could celebrate about because it was automatic but now three consecutive times this team has failed,” lamented Mbulakulima. And Mbulakulima said that the Kamanga executive does not need to wait on anyone to rise for them to leave but that it was time to pave way for a new executive to run football. Mbulakulima served in the FAZ executive under Teddy Mulonga from 2004-2008.
