LUAPULA Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa says the Provincial Administration is committed to protecting children from Covid-19 as schools re-open for examination classes.
Mr. Chilangwa has said that Covid-19 donations to the Provincial Administration will now be taken to schools in readiness for the reopening of examination classes.
He explained that the focus in the fight against the pandemic would now shift from the general public to schools so that no child is exposed to the disease.
The Minister who was accompanied by Provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary Royd Chakaba was speaking when he received an assortment of items from Mansa Sugar Limited towards the fight against Covid-19 and flood victims in the Province.
He assured parents in the Province to send their children to school as they re-open because government has put in place measures to protect pupils in examination classes.
And Mr. Chilangwa commended Mansa Sugar Limited for donating an assortment of items which include Covid-19 and flood relief supplies worth about K80, 000.
He also expressed gratitude to the other corporate bodies and organisations that have donated to the Province to mitigate the impact that the flooding has had in all the 13 districts.
And Mansa Sugar Limited Head of Corparate Affairs Bhupender Singh said the donations are aimed at strengthening the fight against Covid-19 by the Provincial Administration.
Mr. Singh said among the items donated include hand washing equipment, testing kids, hand sanitizers, soap, mealie meal, blanket among others.
He explained that as a company that is now part of Luapula Province, Mansa Sugar is standing with flooding victims.
And Chembe District Commissioner Mumba Mushitu has praised the Provincial Administration for sharing donated items with district administrations in the Province.
