Man who assaulted woman for seeing him urinate, jailed 9 months

Rabecca Banda writes @SunZambian A Lusaka man has been jailed nine months for assaulting a woman who saw him naked while he was urinating in the road. Before magistrate Nsunge Chanda was Erick Chiteshi the accused of John Laing. It is alleged that Chiteshi on December 9 2020 did assault Susan Mwaba causing her actual bodily harm.. Magistrate: When you decided to urinate on the road, did you not know that people would be passing and could see your nakedness? Chiteshi: I did not think of it. Magistrate: because of your mistake of failing to go to use a toilet, you beat up an innocent woman? Chiteshi: because she saw my nakedness that’s why I had to beat her. Magistrate: Don’t you know that there are toilets where you could go and urinate. Was it her fault that you decided to urinate on the road the time she was passing? Chiteshi: it was not her fault. She actually pleaded with me not to beat her. Magistrate: did she follow you to see your nakedness, you undressed for free. Chiteshi: she did not follow me. Magistrate:’I will send you to jail so that next time you think of urinating on the road, you will remember to use a toilet’. “Iam going to give you a custodial sentence so that you can learn that it is against the law to assault someone,” she said. Chiteshi pleaded for mercy saying he was sorry for how he acted. The court jailed Chiteshi nine months imprisonment with hard labor.
