Rabecca Banda writes @SunZambian The Lusaka magistrates court has jailed a man three years for stock theft. Before magistrate Felix Kaoma was Lazarus Sosala 28, of Makeni accused of stealing two sheep and a goat worth K2,200. Facts were that Roland Banda a care takef at Jumbe farm went to check the kraal and noticed that two sheep and a goat were missing. He informed his employer Aquilina Jumbe of the missing animals and she reported the matter to Makeni police. Sosala said he got the animals and took them to his house where his family cooked and ate. He said the owner of the animals did not owe him anything. He pleaded for mercy from the court saying he has a family, two children and they will suffer if he is jailed. He said he regrets his actions and asked the court to exercise maximum lenience. Magistrate Kaoma said Sosala is a young man who can work and provide for his family. Magistrate Kaoma said he cannot let him go free because he cannot reap where he did not sow. The court jailed sosala three years imprisonment with hard labor.
