Man, 33, arrested for defilement of daughter, 11
A 33-YEAR-OLD man from Village Seven in Lusangazi District of Eastern Province has been arrested by police for defiling his 11 year old biological daughter. ZANIS reports that Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Lackson confirmed the arrest of the named man, who was arrested on Wednesday, 6 May 2020 from his Village Seven in Chief Sandwe’s Chiefdom. Mr Sakala explained that the man, a father of three, who divorced his wife in 2014 is alleged to have defiled his Biological daughter between February 2019 to April 2020, according to what the minor narrated to the police officers. The incident occurred when the man decided to stay with his daughter, who was 10 years old and her younger brother, who was Seven last year, (2019) and  took advantage of the situation by having carnal knowledge of the girl on several occasions. The suspect’s daughter reported the matter to her grandmother and later to her mother, who stays in another village, who later reported the matter to Lusangazi Police post in 2019. Upon learning that he had been reported, the man then fled the village to an unknown destination.  “The girl was taken to Petauke District Hospital for medical attention where she tested HIV positive and was also found with syphilis,” he said.  Mr Sakala said the man only resurfaced at Village Seven last week were he was arrested from by the police. Mr Sakala said the man was also on (ARVs) Antiretroviral therapy but defaulted from taking his medication since last year, according to information from a named health centre within Lusangazi, where the man was an ART client. The East Police Commissioner said the man will be transferred to Petauke Police station Victims support Unit as investigations into the matter continue. – ZANIS The Sun
