PETER MALASHA writes VILLAGERS in Mkushi’s Makolongo area have discovered a decomposed corpse of a man half buried in a rubbish pit. Central province police commissioner Chola Katanga confirmed the suspected murder in an interview and said the incident occurred between Sunday and Thursday this week. Mr. Katanga identified the victim as Kelvin Chanda aged between 50 – 57 of Green Leaf area in Kapiri-mposhi. Mr. Katanga said brief facts of the matter were that the victim with his friend Silavwe Stanley 47, also of East Park Kapiri mposhi went to Makolongo on business and were lodging at Goodson Sangwengi’splace. Mr. Katanga explained that Mr. Silavwe informed the owner of the premises that the late got ill in the night on Sunday and left for Masansa. Mr. Katanga said to the surprise, it was later discovered that the late had died and the body was found half buried in a rubbish pit.  Mr. Katanga said it was at this point one of the villagers Leonard Silwamba 45, reported the matter to police on phone. “Police visited the scene and found that the body which was partially buried was almost in a decomposed state.  “The tongue protruded and blood was coming out of the mouth and some blood was also found in the house where the two were sleeping,” said Mr. Katanga. Mr. Katanga added that the body has since been preserved at the scene awaiting postmortem and burial. Mr Katanga said Mr.Silavwe has since been arrested and detained at Kapiri mposhi police station for further investigations. The Sun
