LUSAKA DYNAMOS, BUFFALOES RENEW RIVALRY
By MICHAEL MIYOBA MTN Super League clubs Lusaka Dynamos and Green Buffaloes will renew their rivalry when they face off in today’s rescheduled fixture at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka. The Lusaka derby promises a lot of sparks as both teams are enjoying good form but Lusaka Dynamos will be seeking to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to Zesco United. It is another tough test for Lusaka Dynamos gaffer Wedson Nyirenda who is determined to inspire his charges to their 13th win of the season after last week’s setback. Wada knows that a win over Green Buffaloes will propel Dynamos back to third on the MTN Super League table where they sit on sixth position with 46 points. And despite being two steps away from the top four, Nyirenda believes a top four finish is possible for the 2021 ABSA Cup champions who have given up on the league which has been dominated by Zesco United. “On the top four I think we are getting there. On the league maybe it can go the other way but on a top four finish, I think it is a must for us,” said Nyirenda. He noted that Lusaka Dynamos will have to improve on their finishing after missing a lot of chances which could have seen them beat Zesco United in their last league fixture. Meanwhile, Buffaloes will aim to extend their unbeaten run to three games after they draw 1-1 with Zanaco before beating Power Dynamos 2-1 in their latest fixture played on July 23 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka. Buffaloes will search for a win knowing that three points redeem their hopes of finishing the league in the top four bracket. Meanwhile, in the second fixture of the double header at Woodlands Stadium, relegation bound Napsa Stars will fight to recover from a four -game winless run when they host Lumwana Radiants in a relegation battle. Led by caretaker coach Chintu Kampamba, the Pensioners will be looking to pick their first win since head coach Mohamed Fathi and the secretariat led by Honor Janza was sidelined. Napsa are 17th on the Super League table with 36 points and a win over Radiants will enable them to dislodge Young Green Eagles from 13th on the log.
