Lungu files for PF presidency
By OLIVER SAMBOKO PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday officially filed in his nomination papers for the Patriotic Front presidency at its secretariat with a call to all aspiring candidates at various levels to respect the electorates at all times. And the PSV Drivers Association and Zambia National Students Union (ZANASU) have endorsed President Lungu’s candidature for the  presidency in the August 12 general elections. PSV Drivers Association president Max Changwe made the endorsement on behalf of tanker drivers, bus and taxi drivers whike ZANASU president Isaiah Mambwe was representing institutions of higher learning. The drivers are happy with President Lungu reaction to their issues while the students are happy with the number of universities that have been built by the PF government among other improvements. And the ruling party set Wednesday and today for party members wishing to apply for the party Presidency to file in their nomination application papers in readiness for the general conference. President Lungu has been endorsed by all the 10 provinces as the sole candidate at the party’s general conference and in the August 12 general elections. Mr Lungu, who filed in his nomination shortly after 11:30 hours arrived at the secretariat to a thunderous welcome by hundreds of supporters and party officials drawn from across the country. The PF is expected to hold its elective general conference on April 10 and 11. And addressing supporters after filing in his nomination papers, President Lungu said anyone was free to challenge him for the party prudency because that was what democracy demands. Mr Lungu also advised all those who will not be adopted or voted for during this year’s general elections to remain patient and prove themselves worthy of taking up leadership in 2026. President Lungu has already been endorsed by the PF as it’s presidential candidate in the August 12 election.
