PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has bailed out Copperbelt team Nkana Football Club by donating US$100,000 to the football club to facilitate the team’s trip to Angola for the crucial CAF Champions League match against Petro Atletico. It has been reported that the team has been struggling financially and thus knocked on the gate of State House. In response President Lungu gifted the club US$100,000 (K2.1 million) to fulfil the CAF match in Luanda, Angola. President Lungu has shown on several occasions to be a soccer fan, on several occasions he has been seen watching live football matches. Nkana Football Club are a team he holds dear to his heart as they are based in his home town Kitwe. Following the donation the team since flew out to Angola via Solwezi to play the return leg of the CAF Champions League first round fixture yesterday.
