‘Lundazi township roads need urgent attention’
LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes  THE township roads in Lundazi District are in a deplorable state and our cry is that we have better and improved roads, Lundazi Council Chairperson Margret Msimukohas said. “We have had challenges with the Lundazi Chama road, though its gravel it is still one of the economical roads people use for business,” she observed. In an interview with The Sun, Ms Msimuko said works to improve the roads in the district were long overdue but that a contractor was on site, although works had stalled. She said that despite the set back with the township roads government had started working on some economical roads such as the one between Lundazi and Chipata. “Those travelling from Lundazi to Nakonde will have easier movement once the road from Lundazi connecting us to Muchinga and other Provinces is tarred,” she said.  She said the stretch was about 90-kilometers and that once completed it would boost the economy in the District.   Ms Msimuko said that once the Lundazi Chipata road was completed it would also boost up the economy and people in the district would be paying lower fees to travel to Chipataunlike the prices they were paying because the road was very bad.  She said the district had great potential to develop because of the Agriculture and the mining sector.
