Luapula Province Permanent Secretary, Felix Phiri has commended Samfya residents for adhering to the health guidelines stipulated by the Ministry of Health in the fight against COVID-19. Dr Phiri said he is happy that the people of Samfya including pupils are complying with government’s interventions that are aimed at preventing the further spread of COVID-19. He said many lives will be saved if the public continue to follow necessary health guidelines. ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary was speaking in Samfyayesterday when he inspected schools and other public places to check on the compliance levels on COVID-19 guidelines.   Dr Phiri said it is gratifying that measures put in place in the fight against COVID-19 are being implemented in schools, hospitals, markets, communities and other public facilities within the district. He has since encouraged pupils and teachers in the district to continue adhering to the health guidelines as it is the only way the district will get back to normal. And Dr Phiri also commended Samfya Secondary School Head Teacher for his continued hard work and commitment towards a successful production unit. Samfya Secondary school has three fish ponds within its premises in an effort to raise income for the running of the learning institution. Dr Phiri has since urged other schools to be innovative and not rely much on school grants saying there are other means of raising funds. ZANIS The Sun
