‘LSTONE NEEDS A TURN-AROUND’
By ANDREW MUKOMA LIVINGSTONE City requires new blood and new ideas to turn things around in terms of leadership, UPND aspiring mayoral Bright Anakamba has said. He said that Livingstone as a Tourist Capital has a lot to offer but politically, it needs the ideas of young men and women to turn things around. Mr Anakamba who has so far dominated the mayoral contest on the opposition party said he has a clear roadmap to improve the image of Livingstone. “Nothing has really gone wrong but we just need to lobby for new ideas to better the lives of the people of Livingstone. We are living in the new era and we need to work together, we need to be united as one people and make sure we are inclusive. “When doing things alone, you can never win but once you bring people on board, it makes easier for you to succeed and work well. We might not have everything but we need the need leadership in Livingstone to foster development. We need to sort things out as new leaders because this city is rich and it has a lot to offer,” he stated. Mr Anakamba said that the city was slowly becoming a ghost town because many people particularly youths were unemployed. Going forward, Mr Anakamba said, the city should exploit other critical sectors such as manufacturing and not just tourism. “What compelled me as a young man to contest the position of mayors is that I have seen a lot of us young people in Livingstone are suffering, unemployed and no one speaks for us. No one talks about the youth…we are more like we are in darkness, that is why we need the new generation to lead,” he said.
