Livingstone Council develops Covid-19 duty rota

ANDREW MUKOMA writes @SunZambian FOLLOWING a circular from Cabinet Office which directed all public institutions to come up with work arrangement to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Livingstone City Council has become one the institutions to follow the directive. The local authority has developed a duty rota where workers will take up specific days on a rotational basis to avoid overcrowding in offices. Council Public Relations Manager, Melvin Mukela, said that during the implementation of the duty rota, public services would not be disrupted in any way. Mr Mukela said that this is so because all essential workers will continue to provide the much needed services in the city. He said that other officers would also be working on rotation basis, meaning that, during working hours, there will always be someone to attend to clients. “We wish to assure the public that during the implementation of the duty rota work arrangement by council employees, the provision of public services will not be disrupted as all essential workers will continue providing the much needed services in the district. “In view of the above, the local authority wish to advise residents of Livingstone to strictly adhere to the public heath guidelines such as keeping of social distance, wearing of facemasks, regular washing of hands and hand sanitising in order to win the fight against corona virus,” Mr Mukela said. Mr Mukela added that public health Inspectors had intensified monitoring of compliance levels of public health guidelines sin public places such as markets, bus stations, taxi ranks and other business places. “Therefore, all business houses that shall be found flouting these public health guidelines shall not be spared by the law. “It is our sincere appeal as a Local Authority to the general public that everyone need to be involved in the fight against Coronavirus in order to stop it from spreading further,” he said.
