Kitwe DC lauds Nyimba Investments for timely FISP distribution
SUN REPORTER writes@SunZambianKITWE District Commissioner Chileshe Bweupe has is happy that Nyimba Investments delivered fertiliser under the Farmer Support Input Supply Programme (FISP) for the 2020/21 season early. As a result he said that fertiliser in the district were accessing fertiliser before the planting season, a move he said would result in Kitwe recording a bumper harvest. He therefore urged other commodity companies to emulate Nyimba and ensure that they deliver inputs on time. He said the timely delivery was in line with President Edgar Lungu’s desire of growing the agriculture sector.Mr Bweupe said he was happy that inputs on the Copperbelt were delivered early so that the people could diversify from mining to agriculture.“Thank you very much to you Nyimba Investments for giving us the inputs early and our farmers are now able to get fertiliser before the rain season. “Your time delivery is what has resulted into our farmers getting the inputs early. You are heeding to President Lungu’s directive that inputs should be brought early so that the farmers do not face any challenges,” said Mr Bweupe. He said that he was informed by officials in the ministry of Agriculture that all the farmers in the district would be able to receive their inputs by October 30.And Mr Mulendema said that Nyimba was happy that the government had contracted them to be among the suppliers. He said that the company was happy that it was engaged to be among the suppliers for the 2020/21 farming season. He thanked the government for the opportunity to be among the suppliers saying Nyimba would not let down the authorities.“We take the opportunity to be among the suppliers seriously and we would not let down our farmers and the government. We have realised that once the farmers get the inputs early, they are able to plan well hence recording a bumper harvest,” he said. The Sun
