SUN REPORTER writes KANYAMA member of parliament Elizabeth Phiri has donated eleven sewing machines valued at a total of K130,000 to women in her constituency in a quest to empower them. Speaking during the donation, the law maker, who is also Gender Minister, said this initiative will be spearhead by Kanyama Community Development Trust and that all the women in her constituency must benefit from the empowerment. She has called on all women with knowledge in tailoring to come on board and even teach tailoring skills to others. Ms Phiri has emphasised that the empowerment project is a non-partisan and will accommodate all interested women. She disclosed that the main aim of the tailoring initiative to produce face masks that will be distributed freely in schools around Kanyamaconstituency in preparation of the re-opening of schools on June.
