KAMANGA MUST GO, CRIES LUSAMBO
By MUKWIMA CHILALA LUSAKA Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has joined the bandwagon of those that are calling for the removal of FAZ president Andrew Kamanga following the national soccer team’s disastrous performance in Cameroon. Zambia were on Sunday afternoon dumped out of the ongoing CHAN tournament in Cameroon following 3-1 bashing at the hands of defending champions Morocco. But Lusambo noted that the painful loss to Morocco was, asymptomatic of the many things that had gone wrong with football since Kamanga took over as FAZ president. He noted that it was undeniable that football had been sinking and it had been since Kamanga took over Football House. Lusambo said that there is need for the football fraternity to find a suitable candidate to replace Kamanga so that the country could get back to the AfCON qualifiers. He said that an interim executive should be put in place to run the FAZ until the next annual general meeting to usher in a new executive. “Since his mandate to run FAZ has long expired and he is not the type to resign, I am asking the football family across Zambia to come up with a suitable candidate to replace Andrew as quickly as possible before we get back to the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers,” Lusambo said “An interim executive should be put in place to run football until the next AGM is held to usher in a new executive. The process of identifying a suitable successor should be given now. I am making this plea as a football lover and not as a minister in government,” Scores of Zambian soccer fans have taken to social media to vent out their frustrations following Zambia’s elimination from the CHAN.  This was the third time the team was being ejected out of the competition at the same stage having earlier been eliminated at the quarter final stage in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
