LUCY PHIRI writes A 21-YEAR-OLD man of Kafue has been sentenced to five months imprisonment for stealing a tent and a pair of slippers all valued at K3,550. Appearing in the Kafue magistrate court before magistrate Moffat Phiri was Michael Sichone of Kafue estates C5 accused of stealing named properties of Olivia Mungolo. Particulars of offence is that on 27 April around 06:00hours Mungolowent to get her vehicle where she usually parks it. Upon reaching home she parked the vehicle outside the house and after sometime when she was at the farm house she discovered the tent was missing. It was her neighbour who told her that she saw Sichone loading the tent in the taxi. Magistrate: Were you allowed by the owner to get the tent? Sichone: No Magistrate: What did you wanted to do with the property? Sichone: I wanted to sell. Magistrate: After selling what did you wanted to do with the money? Sichone: I don’t even know exactly what I wanted to do with the money. Sichone pleaded for leniency from the court that he will not make the same mistake again.
