Kabwe’s Industrial Park encroachment worsens
KETRA KALUNGA Writes@SunZambianLAND for Kabwe Industrial Development Park is slowly being encroached forcing the local authority to rescind its earlier decision of re-advertising the undeveloped stands in the area. The land has remained bare three years after the Kabwe Municipal Council made the advertisement with only a few companies and institutions showing interest to set up investment.Town Clerk, Joel Shawa said in an interview that the council has rescinded the decision to re-advertise the stands until it ascertains how much land was free from encroachment.Mr. Shawa said the stands in the undeveloped industrial park would only be re-advertised when an assessment of how much is available has been made by officers from the Department of Planning.“We are not re-advertising stands in the Industrial Development Park at the moment, we are making an assessment of how much land has no encumbrances because the land continues to be encroached. He said the council doubts there was still enough land free from encroachments in the Industrial park located in Makandanyama area in Kabwe Central Constituency.Mr Shawa said, “immediately there is a big chunk of free land in the area will re-advertise because as council we want money but what we don’t want is problems regarding land.”
