KABOMPO BALLOTS ARRIVE
KABOMPO district has received ballot papers for the August 12 general elections for all the 63 polling stations. The ballot papers which arrived at Kabompo civic centre at around 06:40 hours yesterday were witnessed by several political party representatives and organizations. Kabompo District Electoral Officer, Nsama Chiti, said all was set for the elections tomorrow as all polling staff were only awaiting deployment to the various wards starting yesterday. “All the ballot papers for the general elections are in and the arrival has been witnessed by several stakeholders, we are set to start deployment of all the poll staff in readiness for the polls. “We haven’t had any major challenges thus we are on course with preparations for the general elections,” Ms Chiti said. And Kabompo Constituency Returning Officer, Richard Shikwesha, stated that deployment of polling staff had already commenced with the first group expected to be in their respective stations before end of day. “Deployment has already begun as the first group will be leaving today and is expected to be at their stations before the end of the day,” Mr Shikwesha said. Meanwhile, Patriotic Front (PF) District Chairperson, Breston Nyamachaka, said he was happy with the timely distribution of ballot papers by Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ). “We are happy that all the ballot papers are in, all we expect is peaceful campaigns by all stakeholders,” Mr. Nyamachaka said. He appealed for continued exhibition of peace and co-existence among all the stakeholders before during and after the general elections.
