IT’S BEEN A PLUS AS KAMANGA SAYS CLUB LICENSING HAS SEEN POSITIVE CLUBS’ RESULTS IN CAF GAMES
By MUKWIMA CHILALA FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has noted that the process of implementing club licensing has seen an improvement in the participation of clubs in CAF games. Kamanga said FAZ has been working on implementing a national licencing framework that has set minimum standards for clubs in key areas such as youth football development, administration, and infrastructure development. He was speaking during a club licensing workshop for clubs held in Lusaka yesterday. He said the process has given them several positives which have had an improvement in the  participation and performance in CAF games. Kamanga noted that clubs such as Zanaco and Zesco United who were among the first to embrace the club licensing have seen the positive impact of the process. He said last year, FAZ had challenges in meeting the minimum Club Licensing requirements for all the four clubs that qualified for CAF tornaments and had to negotiate for provisional licences for them to take part. Kamanga said the aim of the workshop is to continue to engage clubs and share the positive impacts that club licensing g will continue to have on shaping the future landscape of Zambian club football. He also said FAZ has continued to engage CAF to develop an implementation plan that is based on the specific challenges and opportunities in Zambia. He said that FIFA has revised the 2013 Club Licecsing Regulation and introduced the 2021 Editions separately for men and women and also introduced the catalogue of fines for violation of the Club Licensing regulation.
