I WILL RESPECT ECZ SUSPENSION OF RALLIES – ZINDABA SOKO
BY SANFROSSA MANYINDA CHIPATA Central Independent parliamentary candidate Zindaba Soko says he will respect the Electoral Commission of Zambia’s decision to suspend public rallies because he respects and values life. He said Covid-19 was real and it was important for leaders to act responsibly and not endanger people’s lives. Mr Soko pointed out that it was important that politicians respected the ECZ decision to ban political rallies. He has vowed to continue with the door to door campaign in the interest of safeguarding the health of the electorates. Mr Soko also said he respects the decision by the Patriotic Front central committee for their preferred candidate and that he would continue supporting the party even though he was standing as an independent. Mr Soko said he had nothing against the ruling party because he shared its agenda which was to consider the interests of the people in the constituency and continue supporting the candidature of President Edgar Lungu ahead of the August 12 general elections. He said he wanted to give up after realising that he did not make it through the adoption process but that decided to go ahead after wide consultations from all stakeholders and the people of Chipata Central Constituency.
