I will not be detracted – President Lungu

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says his administration will not be distracted by people who do not mean well for the nation. President Lungu will ignore such people detracting government in its quest to take development to all parts of the country. “I  will not be distracted by those opposing his tours across country, “ President said adding that: “ It is my duty  to visit different parts of the country to monitor as while as provide supervision on how projects are being carried.” Recently, the Republican President was disrespected by opposition UPND cadres during his working visit in MonzeDistrict, a development that has received condemnation by sections of society. And President Lungu has reiterated his continued resolve to work with Members of Parliament (MPs) despite their political affiliation. He said politics of divide among politicians should not hamper the provision of improved service delivery for the people, especially those in rural areas. Speaking when he addressed a gathering who welcomed him in Sioma District, this afternoon, President Lungu praised the Independent area MP for deciding to work with government in improving the living standards of people in the district. He explained that it is his duty to take development to all parts of the country and better the lives of Zambians regardless of their political association and interests. “I appreciate the love that you have shown me to come and welcome me, don’t feel guilty that you didn’t vote for me, am here  to work with everyone that’s why am not ashamed to work with the MP which you chose to represent you,” he said. Earlier President Lungu visited the Sioma livestock centre and said government had embarked on an ambitious transformation agenda which will see the establishment of critical infrastructure development in the country. He noted that despite resources being limiting government will continue to transforming the lives of people through such projects. And Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Nkandu Luo explained that the Sioma livestock centre is one of the four that government is constructing countrywide aimed at training farmers in sustainable livestock management. Prof.Luo explained that construction works at the project had stalled for the last two years but will resume and be completed in the next four months for farmers to start benefiting from the centre.  At the same event Independent Sioma MP Mbololwa Subulwathanked government for the support in revamping the livestock sector with modern facilities and equipment through the service centre. Ms.Subulwa explained that livestock farming is the main stay of Sioma hence any initiatives targeted at providing sustainable and improved livestock management should be appreciated as it will go a long in bettering the livelihood of the people. “We are happy and thankful to government, this centre means a lot to us the people of Sioma we depend on livestock farming and am confident that the coming of this centre and the support we have received will better our lives and living standards,” she said. – ZANIS The Sun
