MULENGA MUSONDA WRITES @SUNZAMBIANCLIFFORD Mulenga has denied before the Choma Fast Track Court for Gender Based Violence to beating up a woman.In this matter, Mulenga,20, is charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to the Laws of Zambia.Allegations are that the accused person on September 30, in Choma Assaulted Clara Musulumba and thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.When he took plea before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the accused person understood the charge read to him through the Court Interpreter Luckson Sibalwa in Tonga, the Language he was comfortable with.In taking plea, Mulenga admitted the charge read to him but his explanation twisted the Courts arm to record a plea of not guilty.In his explanation, Mulenga told the Court that the two were fighting, and the woman injured herself as he was trying to grab the stones from her. Magistrate Phiri entered an equivocal plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to October 22 for trial after Public Prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa made the application to adjourn the matter.Mulenga was remanded in custody.
