HH TRIVIALISING CAMPAIGN PROMISES, SAYS KASONDE MWENDA
PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND should not trivialise the promises they made to Zambians, Economic Freedom Fight (EFF) president Kasonde Mwenda has warned. He said Zambians voted for the UPND leaders based on the many promises they made ahead of the August 12 general elections. Mr Mwenda said it was unfortunate that President Hichilema had not been talking about free education since ascending to office.“President Hichilema and the UPND were keen on their promises including the promise of free education but the silence on the matter is a cause of worry,” Mr Mwenda said. He said Mr Hichilema and his party had also been mute on the much talked about salary increment for civil servants. “The President has only been talking about the national debt, forgetting about several other important issues and we need to hear from him on these issues,” Mr Mwenda said. He said President Hichilema, being a product of free education, should not back-track on fulfilling his campaign promise of provision of free education from primary to university.Mr Mwenda said Zambians should not be taken for granted especially on the fulfilment of campaign promises. The EFF, he said, would continue providing checks and balances through the necessary governance structures to ensure that the UPND fulfils campaign promises. He said the EFF would build on the lesson learnt from the previous elections ahead of future polls.
