HH bungled over PF, says Chilufya Tayali By SIMON MUNTEMBA IT is highly commendable that barely one month in office, President Hakainde Hichilema called for interaction with the media but it was unfair to convict the former regime without giving us more details, the Economic and Equity Party (EEP) has said. EEP president Chilufya Tayali said the interaction was commendable especially that the citizens were coming from a regime that was not very interactive with the media. In an interview, Mr Tayali said he was particularly happy that President Hichilema came out very clearly on the issue of caderism in markets or bus stations after conflicting statements from a minister and UPND official. That was commendable, he said, because in the previous regime such kind of leadership was not there. The former republican President would have just kept quiet. He however claimed that some of the President’s statements ran short of the details for Zambians to really appreciate the press conference. “What was lacking there was for him to give us the details than just bragging. For example, when he spoke about meeting the Vice President of USA, he made it look like it was historical since 1992, which is fine. But what is of significance to us is the contents and what they discussed. It should not just be a matter of going to the White House but details of what was discussed,” Mr Tayali said. Mr Tayali also said the Head of State did not give a clear answer when he was asked about his position on the sale of the Presidential jet apart from convicting the former regime.   He added, “I was uncomfortable with him trying to convict the former regime without giving us the details. Why do you just make inflammatory statements without backing them up? Otherwise, you don’t just make blank statements.”
