‘Govt will not interfere in football administration’

And President Lungu says he was concerned that football continued to be fraught with wrangles. The President said his interest as Patron of FAZ was to see to it that the country was not banned by soccer governing body FIFA as the ultimatum elapsed on yesterday. He was hopeful that football stakeholders would resolve their differences before today’s FIFA deadline elapsed. The President said that he was hopeful that Zambia would not be sanctioned by the world governing body, FIFA, so that Zambians could continue to enjoy the game they loved. On Thursday, the President his directed Presidential Affairs Minister Freedom Sikazwe, to chair a meeting called by Youth and Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga, between FAZ and Mr Damiano Mutale who was  sued FAZ.  The meeting was attended by FAZ president Andrew Kamanga, FAZ officials and lawyers for Mr Mutale.
