‘Govt must get tough on enforcing public health compliance’
NOEL IYOMBWA writes THE Ministry of Home Affairs should ensure that everyone adheres to the Health Guide line to prevent the spread of Covid-19, failure to that, they should be arrested Council for Catholic Bishop in ZambiaGeneral Secretary Bishop Able Kaela has said. In an interview, Bishop Kaela said that people should take the matter of Covid 19 seriously looking at the high number cases being recorded. He observed that despite the increase in the recorded cases, some people are not taking the matter seriously by not complying with the guidelines hence the law enforcers should start arresting people who are not complying. The General Secretary said that wearing of masks should be made mandatory to all people in public places. Bishop Kaela also stated that now that some Restraunt have been opened, law enforcers should ensure that the owners of the Restraunts comply by monitoring them. He said that government’s decision to open Restraunts and Casinos does not mean that people should be careless. Recently, President Edgar Lungu directed the opening of restaurants, cinemas, gymnasiums and casinos.  He, however, stated that bars remain closed until further notice.  President Lungu also re-opened examination grades in schools to commence classes on 1st June 2020. President Lungu said that all these measures should comply with public health measures. The Sun
