ANDREW MUKOMA writes@SunZambianTEACHERS in the country should form school cooperatives in order to address their financial and other needs, the National Teachers Multi-purpose Cooperative Society Limited (NTMSCL) has advised.NTMSCL National Chairman-General, Mulenga Chitoshi, said that running school cooperatives was one of the most effective ways to address the escalating levels of unemployment of teachers in the country.Mr Chitoshi said, therefore, that NTMCSL was a game changer to the unemployment teachers in Zambia.He said in Livingstone at the weekend that the cooperative society recognised Government’s empowerment programmes in various areas.“President Edgar Lungu in his national address of September 11, 2020, articulated the country’s need to form cooperatives as a way of supporting Government’s efforts in revamping the economy and employment amid covid-19 outbreak that has affected the global market.“The National Teachers Multi-purpose Co-operative Society Limited, is a game changer to the unemployment teachers in Zambia,” he said. Therefore, cooperative recognizes Government’s efforts in various empowerment programs,” he said.Mr Chitoshi said that that was the reason why his organization came up with a lasting solution to the high numbers of unemployed teachers through formation of cooperatives.
