The minister spoke to journalists in Lusaka shortly after officiating at the opening of the National Sports Council of Zambia elections yesterday at Government Complex. “We had a meeting with the Ministry of Health and Football Association of Zambia officials on Friday and it ended very late so I am waiting for FAZ to submit their report on how they are going to adhere to health guidelines towards Covid-19, if the league is to resume but again it doesn’t mean if football resumes they have to play there and then.  No, their players need to be given at least two to three weeks to up their levels of fitness,” Mulenga said. The Minister said FAZ had presented their engagement plan for both local and international competitions and that government has heard the cries by soccer lovers but health comes first and guidelines need to be followed to avoid contracting the corona virus.
